Volleyball Game Preview: MAST Academy Makos vs. Downtown Doral Dolphins

The MAST Academy Makos will take on the Downtown Doral Dolphins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

MAST Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past Miami Springs 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Makos in their matchups with the Golden Hawks: they've now won seven in a row.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: MAST Academy took every set by at least 16 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 25-6, 25-9.

Alex Papp was the offensive standout of the contest as she had eight kills, four aces, and one block. Those four aces gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariadna Ros, who had 13 assists and two aces.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Downtown Doral, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Everything went their way against Booker T. Washington on Monday as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Downtown Doral was: they took every set by at least 20 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-5, 25-5, 25-4.

MAST Academy's record now sits at 12-7. As for Downtown Doral, their record is now 12-9.

MAST Academy might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Downtown Doral in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Makos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
