Basketball Game Preview: Mayfield Cardinals vs. Graves County Eagles

Mayfield and Graves County are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Mayfield Cardinals are taking a road trip to challenge the Graves County Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Mayfield's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.

Last Tuesday, Mayfield earned a 60-49 win over Ballard Memorial.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Graves County). They breezed by Murray to the tune of 79-46 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Eagles have posted against the Tigers since December 5, 2017.

Mayfield pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Graves County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Mayfield came up short against Graves County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 52-41. Can Mayfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
