Soccer Game Preview: Elko vs. Churchill County

The Elko Indians will venture away from home to square off against the Churchill County Greenwave at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Elko will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Elko proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Spring Creek 1-0. Give Elko's defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Sydney Hawkins, who's now up to five this season.

Meanwhile, Churchill County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-match winning streak on Friday. Neither they nor Lowry could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked Churchill County's first draw of the season.

Elko's win bumped their record up to 7-5. With that draw, Churchill County's record moves to 4-3-1.

Elko might still be hurting after the 4-1 defeat they got from Churchill County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Indians were down 3-0.
