Softball Recap: Chandler Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Marana, Chandler was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Hamilton Huskies by a score of 8-4. This was payback for the Wolves, who suffered a 13-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Anastajia Molinar made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cecilia Escalante, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Zoe Yesenski, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Chandler lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Chandler now has a winning record of 9-8-1. As for Hamilton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Chandler will take on Highland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hamilton, they will challenge Basha at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
