Volleyball Recap: Portales Falls Short Against Ranked Goddard

Portales faced Goddard in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Rams took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Portales started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-16.

Portales' defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Goddard, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-2.

Portales wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Artesia on the 30th. As for Goddard, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Lovington on the 30th.
