Softball Recap: Scituate Takes a Loss

Scituate fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Johnston on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 8-2. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by exactly six runs.

Isabella Defusco spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Victoria Geisser was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4. Gabriella Defusco also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Scituate is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11. As for Johnston, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-5.

As of now, neither Scituate nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
