Baseball Game Preview: Jenkins County War Eagles vs. Portal Panthers

The Jenkins County War Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Portal Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jenkins County has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Portal will come in with five straight victories.

Jenkins County managed to slip by Burke County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The War Eagles lost 12-2 to the Bears on Thursday.

Tyler Williams was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Portal ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Jenkins County 5-4. The game was the first time the Panthers have beaten the War Eagles on their field since March 30, 2023.

Portal now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Jenkins County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
