Basketball Recap: The Classical Academy Starts Season with Loss on the Road

The Classical Academy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were outmatched by the Lutheran Lions and fell 54-23. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Shelby Jolly and Naomi Flowers certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Jolly posted nine points, while Flowers put up six points.

Berkley Schneider had an outrageously good game for Lutheran as she shot 55% from the field to rack up 18 points in addition to six steals and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Schneider a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Another player making a difference was Emma Gehrke, who had seven points and four steals.

The Classical Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-36 win against St. Mary's on the 4th. As for Lutheran, they have also already played their next matchup, a 47-45 victory against Mead on the 4th.
