Basketball Recap: Gila Ridge Comes Up Short

Gila Ridge lost against La Joya Community back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Gila Ridge Hawks took a 73-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Isaiah Carter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for La Joya Community, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 20 rebounds. The matchup was Carter's third in a row with at least ten points. Josiah Hale was another key player, putting up 14 points and six rebounds.

Gila Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for La Joya Community, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Gila Ridge will head out to take on Hamilton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hamilton will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Gila Ridge surely won't give up without a fight. As for La Joya Community, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Alhambra at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
