Soccer Game Preview: Washington vs. Morton

The Washington Panthers will head out to challenge the Morton Potters at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.

Washington is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Pekin a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Washington, who have now won 19 contests by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Pekin with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Isaac Reetz (5), Hudson Scrivner (3), and Ethan Goettler.

Meanwhile, Morton's game on Tuesday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They skirted past Bloomington 1-0. Given Morton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Bloomington are ranked 221st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Washington's win bumped their record up to 24-1-1. As for Morton, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4-4.

Washington skirted past Morton 2-1 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Potters have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
