Baseball Recap: Riverdale Wins Going Away Against Upper Scioto Valley

Riverdale had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Upper Scioto Valley on Thursday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 15-4 win. The game marked the Falcons' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Jackson Armrose made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Riverdale is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3 otherwise. Armrose was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

In other batting news, Grady Phelps was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. Tate Weber was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

The win got Riverdale back to even at 4-4. As for Upper Scioto Valley, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Riverdale will square off against Seneca East at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Upper Scioto Valley, they will head out to face off against Ridgemont at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
