League recap: Cedar Bluff tops Sand Rock to extend winning streak

Cedar Bluff extended the longest winning streak in 1A Region 7 this week by beating Sand Rock, 34-28. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.

Coosa Christian took down Southeastern 37-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Gaylesville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cole Murphy threw for 27 yards and John David Jennings had 21 yards receiving. On the ground Dylan Mitchell chipped in 81 yards. Gable Lawson helped Gaylesville's passing attack out by catching one ball for six yards.

Gaylesville's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Murphy has thrown for 696 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Malachii Dutton has 14 catches for 279 yards. Jennings leads the league in rushing with 1374 yards.

The Conquerors led the league in scoring this week after putting up 37 points on Southeastern.
