Softball Game Preview: Jefferson Mustangs vs. Providence Catholic Provets

The Jefferson Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Providence Catholic Provets at 8:00 a.m. on Friday. Providence Catholic took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Jefferson, who comes in off a win.

Jefferson was handed a seven-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Tivy.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Providence Catholic's offense. They lost 14-0 to Uvalde on Thursday. The Provets have struggled against the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Providence Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Jefferson, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.

Jefferson suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Providence Catholic when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Jefferson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
