Baseball Recap: Deer Lakes Takes a Loss

Deer Lakes fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Freeport on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Yellowjackets by a score of 5-3. Surprisingly, this marked the sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Deer Lakes saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Cook, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Deer Lakes has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Freeport, the win keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

While Deer Lakes had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
