Basketball Game Preview: Largo Packers vs. Tampa Bay Tech Titans

The Largo Packers will take on the Tampa Bay Tech Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Largo has given up an average of 68 points per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Largo saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Cypress Creek and fell 71-43. The Packers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Loss or not, Largo got some senior leadership from Zaire Smith and Chase Clark. Smith posted nine points and eight rebounds, while Clark put up ten points in addition to five boards and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Clark. AJ Jeanphilippe was another key player, putting up four points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Tampa Bay Tech strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Hillsborough with a sharp 75-51 victory.

Tampa Bay Tech's win came from a few key players Largo will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Aamir Stafford, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds. What's more, he also posted a 71% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dexter Lawson, who shot 62% from the field en route to 19 points along with six boards and three steals.

Tampa Bay Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Tampa Bay Tech's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Largo, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
