1A Northwest recap November 5, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Nooksack Valley, who took down 97th ranked Blaine, 40-26. Tanner Myhre threw for 337 yards and 4 touchdowns, ran for 103 yards and caught 1 pass for 19 yards during the win.
Fans got a thrill when Myhre and Connor Beard connected against the Borderites. The connection was good for 82 yards, the longest such play in 1A Northwest this season.
Nooksack Valley's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Pioneers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Myhre has thrown for 1,861 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Joshua Gimmaka has 32 catches for 384 yards. Myhre also leads the league in rushing with 749 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against Bellevue Christian, Myhre is short just 139 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
Mt. Baker added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Meridian, 24-17. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Mountaineers.
