Volleyball Recap: Bishop Gorman Comes Up Short

Bishop Gorman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shelton Chargers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Crusaders of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Bishop Gorman actually scored more points across those five sets (100-85), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 4-25, 16-25, 25-23, 15-11.

Elianah Mooney paced Bishop Gorman's offense, picking up nine kills. Mooney got some help from Molly Madsen and her 19 assists. Finally, Mooney was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high six blocks.

Bishop Gorman's loss dropped their record down to 9-19. As for Shelton, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Bishop Gorman will take on rival All Saints Episcopal at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Shelton is set to challenge their familiar foe McKinney Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
