Baseball Game Preview: San Diego Cavers vs. University City Centurions

San Diego hasn't had much luck against University City recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The San Diego Cavers will square off against the University City Centurions at 3:30 p.m. San Diego has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

San Diego is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They lost 13-7 to El Capitan. One positive for the Cavers, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Aidan Hochman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, University City is still undefeated this season after their match against Santa Fe Christian on Monday, but Santa Fe Christian came as close as anyone has to beating them. University City beat Santa Fe Christian by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-1.

AJ Curry made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Curry was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

University City's record is now 4-0. As for San Diego, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

San Diego might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from University City in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can San Diego avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
