The Evangel Christian Lightning's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Rocket City Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Evangel Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 461 points over their last seven matchups.
Evangel Christian stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 74-45 win over Tuscaloosa Home Educators. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Evangel Christian has posted since December 18, 2023.
Evangel Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zion Thompson led the charge by scoring 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Bugnar, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Rocket City made off with a 50-49 victory over Master's Hand Christian.
Evangel Christian pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Rocket City, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Evangel Christian beat Rocket City 55-42 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Evangel Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
