Baseball Game Preview: Germantown Mavericks vs. Terry Bulldogs

Germantown has gone a perfect 5-0 against Terry recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. Germantown will challenge Terry at 1:00 p.m. Germantown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Germantown and Clinton, and Clinton kept the tradition alive. Germantown took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clinton on Friday.

Germantown got a good showing from Brayden Simpson, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Simpson has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brayden Quick made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Attison O'Cain was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, Terry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 12-0 to Hattiesburg.

Germantown has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. Terry's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Germantown took their win against Terry in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Germantown since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
