Preview: Crestview Cougars vs. Mapleton Mounties
Crestview has been on the road for three straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Mapleton Mounties at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Crestview has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 23 points or more this season. They blew past New London 85-46 on the road. Given Crestview's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while New London is ranked 825th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Mapleton beat Edison 66-59 on Friday. That's two games straight that Mapleton has won by exactly seven points.
Crestview's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Mapleton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Crestview was able to grind out a solid win over Mapleton in their previous matchup back in February, winning 70-60. Will Crestview repeat their success, or does Mapleton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
