Basketball Recap: Murphy Bulldogs vs. Robbinsville Black Knights

It was a good run, but the Murphy Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 68-53 to Robbinsville. Murphy has struggled against the Black Knights recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Murphy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cale Harger, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Harger scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Xander Wachacha, who scored 13 points.

Murphy's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Robbinsville, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murphy is on the road again on Friday and plays the Maroon Devils at 8:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Swain County is ranked 282nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 272nd). As for Robbinsville, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
