On Monday, Waterford faced Athens in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Waterford Wildcats strolled past the Athens Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 54-39. The Wildcats' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

When it comes to explaining why Athens lost, don't look at Asa Holcombe. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 14 on her way to 13 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Banks, who posted eight points and five rebounds.

Waterford's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Athens, they moved to 7-1 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Waterford will venture away from home to face off against South Gallia at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Athens and Harding will round out the year against one another at at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
