Basketball Recap: Smith Valley Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Smith Valley's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Coleville Wolves by a score of 51-40. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 31-29 back in January.

Smith Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Presley York, who posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave York a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Slater, who put up 19 points.

Despite the defeat, Coleville saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kenna Lange dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Lange is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Hannah Armold was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

Smith Valley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Coleville, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Coming up, Smith Valley will take on Virginia City at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Smith Valley is facing Virginia City at the right time seeing as Virginia City is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Coleville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
