Baseball Recap: Mount Miguel's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Mount Miguel waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the Lincoln Hornets 3-1. For the Matadors, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 victory the Hornets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Pierson Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Diego Soto and Angel Delgado did most of the damage at the plate: Soto got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI, while Delgado scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those RBI marked the first that Soto brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Sanchez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Mount Miguel now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Lincoln, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Mount Miguel didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-9 win against Hoover on the 20th. As for Lincoln, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-1 victory against Mar Vista on the 20th.
