League recap: Sodus' Schutt delivers best pitching performance from past week

Section 5 Wayne County's top pitcher this week was Caleb Schutt. His stat line for the week included one win and 10 Ks.

The league's longest active winning streak belongs to East Rochester (11-2, 11-1), undefeated over its last four games. The streak was extended by another three games over the past week, including a 14-4 win over Williamson.

Sodus's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only 17 hits and nine walks, both of which led the league. On the season, the Spartans have allowed just 93 hits, while striking out 119 batters. Schutt leads the Spartans with 52 strikeouts in 43 innings.

Marion stole 13 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 57 steals on the year. Manager Dan Bonafede is giving his players opportunities to steal, and Nate Holahan has racked up a team-high 18 stolen bases for the Black Knights.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Brad Geffert, who turned in 13 Ks for North Rose-Wolcott. He's third in the league with 51 total strikeouts.
