The Villages Charter has gone 9-1 against Eustis recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Villages Charter Buffalo will host the Eustis Panthers at 7:00 p.m. The Villages Charter will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Monday, The Villages Charter earned a 6-2 win over East Ridge. The six-run effort marked the Buffalo's lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Dominic Pittman looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Torin Foley was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcello Cortale, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
The Villages Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Eustis' undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mount Dora. The loss put an end to the Panthers' undefeated start to the season.
Dallas Rasmussen put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rasmussen was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Rasmussen wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Walker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
The Villages Charter's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Eustis, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. The Villages Charter has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eustis struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
The Villages Charter took their win against Eustis in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 16-2. Will The Villages Charter repeat their success, or does Eustis have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
