Florence-Carlton has gone 8-2 against Anaconda recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Falcons will take on the Copperheads at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Florence-Carlton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Montana's top teams: Lincoln County, who was ranked 20th at the time (Florence-Carlton was ranked ninth). The Falcons blew past the Lions 34-6 on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on three straight.
Florence-Carlton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brody Duchien, who threw for 315 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Tash Murray was in the mix too, providing the Falcons with two scores.
Florence-Carlton didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Lincoln County to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Falcons hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.63 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anaconda). They blew past Kellogg, posting a 66-26 win.
Anaconda didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Travis Dye led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Anaconda is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Ryder Anderson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Anaconda, racking up 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Anderson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
The victory got Florence-Carlton back to even at 3-3. As for Anaconda, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Everything came up roses for Florence-Carlton against Anaconda in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 28-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
