Baseball Recap: Lee County Starts Season with Victory Against Apex

Lee County had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged out the Apex Cougars 4-3. For the Yellow Jackets, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Drew Stanfield was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Stanfield was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Hall, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Landon Miles was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Lee County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Apex only managed four hits.

Apex's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Lee County didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-13 win against Triton on the 28th. As for Apex, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Broughton on the 28th.
