Baseball Recap: Santa Fe Drops Season-High Score on West Port

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Fe). They blew past the West Port Wolf Pack 22-10 on Tuesday. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Wolf Pack recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jacob Avonda looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Angel Irizarry, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Tyler Whitworth also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

The win got Santa Fe back to even at 8-8. As for West Port, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14.

Santa Fe wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 19-6 victory against Gainesville on the 26th. As for West Port, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against University at 6:30 p.m. West Port is facing University at the right time seeing as University is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
