Football Game Preview: Maize Eagles vs. Manhattan Indians + How To Watch

The Maize Eagles will take on the Manhattan Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Maize sitting on ten straight wins and Manhattan on four.

Maize is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on East with a sharp 56-34 victory. Fans of the Eagles have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Brayden Myovela was his usual excellent self, rushing for 304 yards and five touchdowns on only nine carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Maize was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 334 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 200 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.

Maize didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ty Willits and Brodie Jep Jarvis. Jep Jarvis has been hot recently, having posted at least one interception the last four times he's played. Maize received some extra help from Isaac Lerma, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, Manhattan blew past Southeast, posting a 45-6 win. The Indians are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout on Friday was the seventh matchup they've won by 20+ points this season.

Manhattan's win came from a few key players Maize will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was EJ Massenburg, who rushed for 61 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Maize's record is now 10-0. As for Manhattan, their record now sits at 8-2.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Maize has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 230.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Manhattan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 236.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Maize took a serious blow against Manhattan when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 49-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
