Baseball Game Preview: South Fort Myers Wolfpack vs. Sarasota Sailors

South Fort Myers hasn't had much luck against Sarasota recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wolfpack will host the Sailors at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Things were looking good for South Fort Myers after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southwest Florida Christian.

Will Flaherty was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Owen Kircher made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Juan Angeles was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Sarasota unfortunately witnessed the end of their 11-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Venice. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Sailors were not able to get on the board.

South Fort Myers' loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Sarasota, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-4-1.
