Basketball Game Preview: Riverdale Rams vs. Sherrard Tigers

The Riverdale Rams will face off against the Sherrard Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Riverdale comes in on three and Sherrard on six.

On Tuesday, Riverdale needed a bit of extra time to put away Galena. They snuck past the Pirates with a 52-46 victory. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Pirates are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Sherrard blew past Hall, posting a 53-25 win. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Riverdale's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.4 points per game. As for Sherrard, their record now sits at 6-1.

Riverdale strolled past Sherrard when the teams last played back in February by a score of 53-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverdale since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
