Basketball Recap: Ralston Drops Highest Score of Season Against Nebraska City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ralston). They rang in the new year with a 61-52 victory over the Nebraska City Pioneers on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Rams as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Ralston had a senior duo take command as Lamar Rucker dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards and Winner Mutoke posted 12 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Rucker is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Bryson Sargent, who put up five points and five assists.

Nebraska City's loss came despite strong showings from Landon Ferguson and Brayden Earll. Ferguson earned 12 points and three steals, while Earll posted nine points along with six rebounds and three steals. Earll has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Rovetto, who had five points and eight rebounds.

Ralston's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-7. As for Nebraska City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Ralston will head out to face off against Conestoga at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nebraska City, they will host Falls City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nebraska City is facing Falls City at the right time seeing as Falls City is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
