Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Sanger Apaches

The Roosevelt Rough Riders will take on the Sanger Apaches at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Roosevelt knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matches -- so hopefully Sanger likes a good challenge.

Roosevelt took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They secured a 71-67 W over Hoover.

Cobi Posas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. He also posted five blocks, which is notable because Roosevelt is 11-4 when he posts at least three blocks, but 3-4 otherwise. Darreon Wheaton was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Sanger came up short against Sunnyside on Wednesday and fell 63-52.

Roosevelt is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for Sanger, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-7.
