Basketball Recap: Hammond Central Extends Home Winning Streak to 16

Hammond Central came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Hobart Brickies 79-44. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 25 points or more this season.

Leading Hammond Central to victory were Ciyah Thomas and Indiah Hutchinson. Thomas went 11 of 24 en route to 28 points and five steals, while Hutchinson went 9 for 17 on her way to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Thomas is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Valencia Miller was another key player, going 5 of 8 to rack up 13 points.

Hammond Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Hobart's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Riley Weber, who posted ten points and six boards, and Audrey Wendel, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 15 points. Those 15 points gave Wendel a new career-high.
