The biggest upset of the week belonged to Straughn, who defeated 61st ranked Bayside Academy, 40-22.
The Tigers scaled the state rankings by moving to 73 from 104 this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region 1. Straughn climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Admirals 40-22.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Opp's Ethan Davis and Cale Pierce have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback Davis has thrown for 210 yards this season, while Pierce has 11 catches for 121 yards. W.S. Neal's Quenton Samuels leads the league in rushing yards with 1,604.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Southside takes on T.R. Miller. The Panthers are in fifth place, while the Tigers are in first place.
Adding to the longest winning streak in 3A Region 1 this week, T.R. Miller beat Cottage Hill Christian Academy 47-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Tigers.
