Football Recap: Conemaugh Township's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday + How To Watch

Conemaugh Township and Meyersdale squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Conemaugh Township had to settle for second. They took a 20-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Raiders. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Red Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2022.

Despite the loss, Conemaugh Township saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Greyson Studer rushed for 89 yards and one TD, and also threw for 129 yards and one touchdown.

Meyersdale's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Sines, who picked up 107 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 107 yards. Sines also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles (1.5 for loss) and defending one pass. Another back making a difference was Spencer Whitfield, who gained 62 total yards and two touchdowns.

Conemaugh Township moved to 7-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Meyersdale, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1.

Conemaugh Township does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Meyersdale, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 44-0 loss against Westinghouse on the 14th.
