Baseball Game Preview: Coalfield Yellow Jackets vs. Wartburg Central Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Coalfield will face off against Wartburg Central. The Yellow Jackets will welcome the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Coalfield will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Coalfield lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Wartburg Central, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. The Yellow Jackets blew past the Bulldogs 19-1 on Monday. Considering the Yellow Jackets have won 16 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jackson Treece made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Luke Treece was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. Levi Heidel was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Coalfield pushed their record up to 20-5 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Wartburg Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
