Football Game Preview: Anderson Raptors vs. Avon Eagles

The Anderson Raptors will challenge the Avon Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Anderson will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Anderson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 29-22 win over Big Walnut.

Anderson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cooper Kathman, who picked up 118 receiving yards and one score. That's the most receiving yards Kathman has posted since back in November of 2024. Owen Scalf was another key player, having thrown for 296 yards and two touchdowns.

Anderson's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. James Schnurstein refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Meanwhile, Avon faced Walsh Jesuit in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles breezed past the Warriors to the tune of 38-7. Considering the Eagles have won 11 contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Avon's victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Anderson, their win bumped their record up to 14-0.

Anderson came up short against Avon in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 20-13. Can the Raptors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
