Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Weiss walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs on Thursday as they made off with a 14-3 win. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.
Jordynn Booe made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Booe was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Weiss got a massive performance out of Anabella Gomez, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 4-for-4. Those six RBI gave Gomez a new career-high. Aubrey Santos was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.
Weiss was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .515. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Weiss is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.1 runs on average over those games. As for Lamar Consolidated, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 21-4.
