Basketball Recap: Zeigler-Royalton Takes a Loss

Zeigler-Royalton won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 77-40 loss at the hands of the Christopher Bearcats. The Tornadoes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-19.

Despite the loss, Zeigler-Royalton still got an impressive performance from River Freeman, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 16 points and three steals. Freeman's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Lucas Rogers was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine boards.

Zeigler-Royalton moved to 4-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Christopher, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zeigler-Royalton will challenge Sesser-Valier at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Zeigler-Royalton is facing Sesser-Valier at the right time seeing as Sesser-Valier is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Christopher, they will square off against Goreville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Goreville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 matchups.
