Volleyball Game Preview: Woods Cross Wildcats vs. Bountiful Redhawks

Woods Cross is 2-8 against Bountiful since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Woods Cross comes in on 15 and Bountiful on three.

Woods Cross is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Skyline, who was ranked sixth at the time (Woods Cross was ranked second). The Wildcats put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday.

While Woods Cross won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 27-25, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Bountiful got the win against Brighton on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0.

Bountiful didn't let Brighton take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-22, 25-23.

Woods Cross better keep an eye on McKinely Duryea. She was instrumental in Bountiful's win, getting 14 digs. That's the most digs Duryea has posted over her last six matches. Ahnika Makris also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Woods Cross' win bumped their record up to 25-1. As for Bountiful, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.

Woods Cross took their win against Bountiful in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Redhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
