Football Recap: Winters Warriors vs. Dixon Rams
Winters had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Dixon Rams by a score of 31-21. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Winters' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gio Jimenez, who rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also picked up 71 receiving yards and a touchdown. Jimenez also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing a fumble, making 12 total tackles (1.0 for loss), and defending a pass. Lane Brown was another key passer, throwing for 203 yards and three touchdowns.
Winters wouldn't let Dixon keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force four fumbles. Julian Herrera led the group effort, picking up two of those forced fumbles all by himself. Amir Jihad's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing a fumble and making a tackle.
