Volleyball Recap: Meigs Marauders vs. Eastern Eagles
Meigs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Eastern Eagles, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.
Meigs took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-14, 26-24.
Ella Vaughn paced Meigs' offense, picking up eight kills. Vaughn got some help from Jordin Davenport and her seven assists. Marlee Laudermilt and Chloe Burnem kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.
Eastern found their leader in freshman Emeri Lloyd, who had ten digs and three aces. Lloyd is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last ten games she's played.
Meigs' loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Eastern, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-3.
Meigs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Wahama on the 22nd. As for Eastern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Federal Hocking on the 25th.
