Preview: Hancock Panthers vs. Turkeyfoot Valley Area Rams
Hancock is 0-6 against Turkeyfoot Valley Area since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hancock Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Turkeyfoot Valley Area Rams at 7:30 p.m.
Hancock might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 66-49 to Grace Academy, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Hancock has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Isaiah Demory, who scored 11 points. Ethan Nichols was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Turkeyfoot Valley Area had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 81-79 victory over Calvary Christian Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Turkeyfoot Valley Area's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Nicholson, who scored 37 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists. The game was Nicholson's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Younkin, who scored 25 points along with 8 steals and 6 rebounds.
Greater Grace Christian Academy's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Hancock's loss dropped theirs to 0-1.
Hancock might still be hurting after the 68-48 defeat they got from Turkeyfoot Valley Area in their previous meeting back in January. Thankfully for Hancock, Chris Kozlowski (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 23 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
