Wallace finds home court redemption against South Platte

Recap: Wallace Wildcats vs. South Platte Blue Knights

The Wallace Wildcats's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to the Mullen Broncos on Thursday. Wallace pulled ahead with a 57-56 photo finish over South Platte. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Matt Lungrin was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with three steals. The match was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. Ashtin Johns was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.

Several Blue Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Conner Evans, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The game was Evans' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinten Koenen, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.

Wallace's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for South Platte, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Wallace won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Paxton at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Paxton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday.
