Basketball Recap: Adam Gonzalez Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Everglades

Cooper City lost to Everglades back in February, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Cowboys had just enough and edged out the Gators 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cowboys have posted since January 10th.

Cooper City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adam Gonzalez, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 19 points. The game was Gonzalez's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luka Jakopin, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

Cooper City was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They racked up six more assists than Everglades' also-impressive total of 11.

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christopher Payoutte, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 boards. Jaelan Glasford was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Cooper City now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Everglades, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Cooper City will venture away from home to face off against Flanagan at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Gonzalez and AJ Forges. As for Everglades, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 84-38 victory against Pompano Beach on the 5th.
