Football Recap: Tunstall Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Tunstall lost against George Washington back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Trojans had to suffer through a 50-8 loss at the hands of the Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Eagles are ranked 32nd).

Despite the loss, Tunstall still got an impressive performance from Aiden Totten, who picked up 86 receiving yards and one TD.

George Washington can attribute much of their success to Stanford Lipscomb, who rushed for 36 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Tunstall and nudges their season record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Magna Vista (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 94.4% over those games). As for George Washington, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Tunstall will challenge rival Mecklenburg County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, George Washington is set to take on their familiar foe Magna Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Eagles 14.9, the Warriors 10.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
