Basketball Game Preview: Klawock Chieftains vs. Hoonah Braves

Klawock is 9-1 against Hoonah since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Klawock Chieftains will venture away from home to challenge the Hoonah Braves. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Klawock and four for Hoonah dating back to last season.

Klawock is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. The contest between them and Kenai Central didn't end well, with Klawock falling 45-27.

The losing side was boosted by Kaiya Marvin, who posted nine points along with five boards and five blocks. Marvin is crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Hoonah was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 29-25 to Skagway.

Hoonah's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Klawock, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Everything went Klawock's way against Hoonah in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Klawock made off with a 51-26 win. Does Klawock have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hoonah turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
